National Film & Television School: Hypothetical film poster

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT

The Brief: This introductory project introduces you to us and us to you. We want to gauge where you are at designing a straightforward 2d graphic project using the Film Poster as the basis to explore this. The format will be International 1 sheet - 27” x 40” portrait (inches). This is a recognised format that is used in European and US territories.
Often in the early days of a film’s life a poster has to be designed. There are as yet no
images from the film set but often directors and sales agents require a poster to set the
atmosphere of the film. Quite often a designer will have only the title, director, cast and a brief synopsis, this is the information you will be given. From these few elements the
designer has to create a piece of ‘key art’ that can be used as a poster. This is your
task.
