National Film & Television School: Final Film.
PSYCHEDELICS: To treat anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD.
The Brief:
Visual Interpretation - 1 min in length - Create a visual translation of a piece of speech to enhance, illustrate and illuminate the creative writing. Ideally choose a contemporary piece of writing that feels relevant today.
Objectives & Roles:
I chose to focus on patients who were treatment resistant to therapy and SSRI’s, and their experiences taking psilocybin (magic mushrooms). There was a positive outcome of the short time they performed the trials and even 6 months after the trials had ended. My aim was to create awareness of the future of mental illness medicines and therapies. I developed a script using sources of information from a paper named "Patients’ Accounts of Increased “Connectedness” and “Acceptance” After Psilocybin for Treatment Resistant Depression. The trial was conducted by Rosalind Watts, Camilla Day, Jacob Krzanowski, David Nutt, and Robin Carhart-Harris of Imperial College London. I animated the motion graphic sequence using After Effects and Cinema 4D.
